Mila Teshaieva (b. 1974 in Kyiv) is an Ukrainian artist, filmmaker and photographer, whose life-time work is focused on the topics of national memories and collective identities on the territories of the former eastern block. She is an author of two monographs: Promising Waters (Kehrer Verlag 2013) and InselWesen (Kehrer Verlag 2016). Her works are exhibited in museums worldwide and are represented in several public collections. Teshaieva's comprehensive exhibition of works Imagined Community was shown at the MIT Museum in Boston in 2018‒19. Since the very first days of the full scale invasion of Russia to Ukraine Mila Teshaieva have been in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, photographing, filming and writing on what she describes “a defining moment of European history”.
